There have been numerous instances of cricketers being involved in bizarre controversies both on and off the field. Former India coach John Wright once revealed that he held Virender Sehwag by the collar after he got out playing a poor shot.

However, former Pakistan batting coach Grant Flower has shared a shocking incident related to him and ex-Pakistan batsman Younis Khan during the time they were working together. According to Flower, Khan, a former Pakistan cricket captain, once held a knife to his throat when he tried to offer him some advice.

During an interaction with brother Andy and host Neil Manthorp on the ‘Following On Cricket Podcast’ about challenges he faced during his career as a coach, Grant revealed about the incident with Khan.

“Younis Khan, quite tough to master. I remember one incident in Brisbane, during the Test, at breakfast, I tried to give him a bit of batting advice. But he didn’t take kindly to my advice and brought a knife to my throat, with Mickey Arthur sitting alongside, who had to intervene," Grant recalled.

“Yeah, it’s been interesting. But that’s part of coaching. It makes it a hell of a journey, and I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve still got a lot to learn, but I’m very fortunate to be in the position I am,” he added.

Khan is rated as one of the greatest batsmen in Test cricket. In 118 Tests, he scored 10,099 runs at an average of 52 with 34 hundreds. He was recently announced as the team's batting coach for the upcoming tour of England while Mushtaq Ahmed was named as the spin bowling coach.

As for Grant, he scored 67 Tests and 221 ODIs scoring 3,457 runs and 6,571 runs respectively.
