All the nine franchises of the Indian Premier League have announced their initial squads and the released players following the October 31 deadline. The released players will go through the auction, the date of which will be intimated by the IPL Governing Council soon. A total of 52 players have been released by the franchises while 179 players have been retained.
The franchises will have the opportunity to sign up new players amongst the pool of 52 released players along with new uncapped Indian players. According to the IPL Governing body, each franchise can have a squad of 33 players with a Salary Cap of $12.5m. The maximum number of overseas players each franchise can have is 11 while the playing XI will continue to have only four of them.
