Azhar Ali became Pakistan’s fourth triple centurion when he made 302 not out against West Indies in the first Test of the ongoing series at Dubai. Ali occupied the crease for 658 minutes, and faced 469 balls during which he hit 23 fours and two sixes. Thanks to Ali’s smashing innings, Pakistan managed to declare their innings on an impressive 579 for 3. Sami Aslam made 90 in the same innings while Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam contributed 60s.

Hanif Mohammad: The Pakistan legend who passed away recently was Pakistan’s first triple-centurion. With Pakistan in deep trouble following-on against West Indies during the Barbados Test in January 1958, Mohammad made a memorable 337. The visitors were bowled out for 106 in response to West Indies’ first-innings score of 579. Mohammad then came up with his legendary performance. His 337 lasted 970 balls, and featured 24 fours. Thanks to his heroics, Pakistan were successful in drawing the Test.

Inzamam-ul-Haq: The former Pakistan captain was his country’s second triple centurion. Pakistan batted first in the first Test against New Zealand at Lahore in May 2002. Pakistan posted 643 in the first innings, and Inzamam contributed 329 of them. Inzi occupied the crease for 579 minutes, faced 436 balls and hit 38 fours and nine sixes. In reply, New Zealand were rolled over 73 in the first innings and 246 in the second. Shoaib Akhtar and Danish Kaneria picked up six and five wickets respectively in the two innings.

Younis Khan: Another former Pakistan captain, he was the country’s third triple centurion. He made 313 against Sri Lanka at Karachi in February 2009. The knock was extra special since it came in response to Sri Lanka’s massive first innings score of 644 for 7, build around double hundreds from Mahela Jayawardene and Thilan Samaraweera. Coming in at 44 for 1, Khan was sixth out at the score of

596. He ended up making 313, having spent a mammoth 760 minutes at the crease, during which he faced 568 balls, and smashed 27 fours and 4 sixes. Pakistan declared at 765 for 6, and the match ended in an expected draw.
