All the eight teams participating in the competition will play a double round robin stage, i.e. two matches against every other team, one at home and the other away. As a result, a total of 56 matches will be contested in the league stage. This stage will be conducted from 18 September 2020 and ends on 9 November 2020 according to the Indian Premier League time table.

Here you will get the IPL 2020 Schedule, Scorecards & Results, Teams & Squads, Player Rankings or Purple Cap & Orange Cap Holders and Boundary meter.

Standings are decided on the number of points each team has. If more than one team is tied with the same number of points, the ‘Net Run Rate’ (NRR) is taken into consideration.

The rules for gaining points are as follows:

A team gets 2 points for a win.

A team gets 1 point in case the game is abandoned or ends abruptly as No Result.

A team gets 0 points in case of a loss.

The NRR of a team is extremely crucial as the IPL Standings get too close as the tournament progresses and often a few number of teams are tied on points. The NRR of a team is calculated as ‘the number of runs scored by the team to the number of overs faced’ to ‘the number of runs conceded by the team to the number of overs bowled’ in the same tournament.

Post the league stage, the top four teams placed in the IPL points table will qualify for the Playoffs stage whereas the rest of the teams will be knocked out. The first and second-placed teams will play the Qualifier 1 and the other two will be the Eliminator. The winner of the Eliminator will play against the loser of Qualifier 1 in what will be called Qualifier 2. The winner of this game will play in the Final against the winner of Qualifier 1.

Winner of any game is awarded 2 points.

Loser does not get any points.

In case of no-result, 1 point is shared among both the teams.

In case of a tie, the winner is decided via Super-Over and gets 2 points.
