The first Test match at Trent Bridge ended in a draw much to the relief of the Indian camp as they were the only side that could lose on the final day.

The first Test match at Trent Bridge ended in a draw much to the relief of the Indian camp as they were the only side that could lose on the final day. Debutant Stuart Binny was the hero of the day holding fort for India with a solid knock of 78 in 114 balls.

Binny was well supported first by Jadeja (31 from 98 balls) and later on by Bhuvneshwar Kumar who scored his second fifty of the match besides the 5-wicket haul. Bhuvneshwar remained unbeaten on 63 while India closed the match at 391 for 9 in their second innings.

Update at Lunch on Day 5: India got itself into serious trouble losing three big wickets to give a massive opening for England to force a win. However, a fighting partnership between debutant Stuart Binny and Ravindra Jadeja seems to have sealed the draw for India. The overall lead has stretched to 191 runs with four wickets in hand which means England do not have much time to get to the target.

Virat Kohli was the first to depart when Stuart Broad trapped him lbw with an inswinger. The other overnight batsman Ajinkya Rahane was forced to edge a beautiful delivery from Broad which held its line around off. Skipper MS Dhoni despite being dropped by Cook at slip could not cash in and got out bowled by a skiddy inswinger from Liam Plunkett.

India was with a lead of just 145 runs when Binny joined a struggling Jadeja. By lunch, Binny has looked very solid with 26 to his name with three fours. Jadeja who took 38 balls to open his account got his confidence going with a couple of superb pull shots towards the end of the session. Jadeja is batting on 18 from 76 balls. There are still 61 overs left in the Test match for a result that is after deducting a couple of overs for innings change.
