In what was a reduced contest of 13 overs, the Tillakaratne Dilshan led Basnahira Cricket Dundee (BCD) crushed the Thilan Samaraweera led Kandurata Warriors by 34 runs in the 2nd match of the SLPL 2012 at Colombo.

The match started an hour and forty five minutes past the original schedule because of wet ground conditions. Kandurata Warriors won the toss and asked BCD to bat first. There was a good start for the bowling side with Pakistani Sohail Tanvir swinging the ball nicely to take two early wickets. However, a cracking knock from opener Tillakaratne Dilshan (66* from 39 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes) lifted BCD to 129 for 3 in 13 overs.

Asked to score around 10 runs per over, Kandurata Warriors never got going to finish at 95 for 7 in the allotted 13 overs. Skipper Thilan Samaraweera, who opened the innings scored 24 (from 15 balls) while Thisara Perera, who didn’t bowl at all early on, top scored with 35 (from 21 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes). Dilshan, who also chipped in with 2 for 26 in 3 overs along with his half century was named as the Player of the Match.
