Tragedy hit the Surrey Cricket team following the news of the tragic death of its batsman Tom Maynard in London. Tom, just 23 years of age, is the son of England International Cricketer Matthew Maynard.

Tom MaynardTom Maynard is believed to have been killed after he was hit by a London underground train near the Wimbledon Park Station in South London. News also came in that around an hour prior to his death, Tom Maynard was stopped by the police on charges of erratic car driving. It is learnt that Maynard had left his car and fled the scene and was escaping from the police! An hour after that, Maynard’s dead body was found near the railway tracks.

The 23-year-old Tom Maynard is a specialist right-handed batsman who had played 48 first-class matches and 63 list A matches along with 50 T20s. Maynard has 4 100s and 11 50s in his first class career with an average of 32.65. The 23-yearold’s last match for Surrey was against Kent in the Friends Life T20 which was just a day before his death.
