India captain Virat Kohli has asked critics of No. 3 batsman Cheteshwar Pujara to leave him alone. According to Kohli, Pujara has experience and the calibre to figure out the drawbacks in his game. While Pujara has played some stellar knocks for India in the past, he has struggled for runs over the last few series’ as a result of which his ultra-defensive approach has been questioned. As per some critics, Pujara’s slow batting is putting additional pressure on the rest of the batting line-up.

The second T20I of the series between India and Sri Lanka has been postponed by a day after India all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. The match will now be played on Wednesday, July 28 at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo. Krunal and eight other close contacts have been placed in isolation. According to reports, the close contacts include Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, who were due to fly to England for the Test series. As of now, no latest COVID cases have been reported from the Sri Lankan camp.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan have been ruled out of the upcoming five-match Test series against England. Opener Prithvi Shaw and middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav have been named as replacements. Jayant Yadav’s name, which was also doing the rounds, does not feature in the updated squad. BCCI also informed that Rishabh Pant has joined the Indian squad after recovering from Covid-19. Further, Abhimanyu Easwaran has been added to the squad from the standby players' list.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday expressed sadness at the demise of India’s World Cup-winning batter Yashpal Sharma. The 66-year-old died of a cardiac arrest early on Tuesday morning. Taking to his official Twitter account, Ganguly wrote, "Sad to hear the news of Yashpal Sharma… had the opportunity to work with him as captain, player and then on TV.
