Yusuf Pathan smacked a 68-ball century in the fifth and the final ODI of the series against South Africa at Centurion. Pathan’s 100 came at the time when none of the other batsmen in the team got a move on and it took a hopelessly placed Indian team to a position of great strength.

Pathan came in to bat with the Indians at 60/5 chasing a huge target of 268 for a win. He defended many of the deliveries to begin with but once the Indians had lost their eighth wicket for 119 and looked like having lost the game and the series, Pathan went for the jugular.
He smashed eight sixes and seven fours in his century and by the time he had got to his 100, the Indians were 218/8 in the 35 overs.
Pathan had earlier scored a half century in the third ODI of the series to win India the game.
In the process, Pathan has also become the first ever batsman in the history of ODI cricket to hit two centuries from the number seven position.
