India Innings

India had to work hard to defeat Ireland by five wickets chasing the modest target of 208 in 46 overs. Yuvraj Singh who had picked up a five-wicket haul with the ball played a responsible knock of 50* in 75 balls to help India to the victory. The southpaw had a crucial stand of 67 with Skipper MS Dhoni (34 from 50 balls) to bail out India from a shaky position of 100 for 5.

The start wasn't a great one for India as they lost Sehwag and Gambhir inside 6 overs. Tendulkar (38 from 56 balls) and Kohli then put up a good partnership which was ended by left arm spinner George Dockrell who got the former out lbw. Virat Kohli was run out when he was batting nicely on 34 from 53 balls due to a mix up with Yuvraj Singh who saw that India got to the target safely and for his all-round efforts got the Man of the Match award.

Ireland Innings

Hosts India have bowled out Ireland for 207 in 47.5 overs in the Group B Match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Ireland who were asked to bat first by MS Dhoni after losing the toss were put in early trouble at 9 for 2 in 2.3 overs with Zaheer Khan removing Stirling and Joyce cheaply.

The Irish recovered nicely after the double blow thanks to a century stand between Skipper William Porterfield an Niall O'Brien (46 from 78 balls) before the latter was run out with the score at 122 for 3 in the 27th over. Porterfield then saw a couple of his team mates get out to Yuvraj Singh at the other end. He himself was out to Yuvraj Singh in the 38th over to leave his team in trouble at 160 for 6. Porterfield scored 75 from 104 balls with 6 fours and a six. Yuvraj picked up two more wickets to finish his spell with 10-0-31-5.

Zaheer and Munaf took a wicket each towards the end to bowl out Ireland in 47.5 overs. Zaheer had good figures of 9-1-30-3.
