Bangladesh 144/2 in 35 overs against Netherlands

Bangladesh are 144 for 2 in 35 overs chasing 161 for a win against Netherlands in their World Cup Group B clash in Chittagong.

Zunaed Siddique (35) was dismissed in a soft manner when he tried to thwack a short and wide ball from Peter Borren straight to extra cover where Pieter Seelaar took a simple catch.

Imrul Kayes was batting on 69 and Shahriar Nafees on 31 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Bangladesh had the worst possible start losing Tamim Iqbal (0) with no run on the board on the fourth ball of the first over. He inside-edged Mudassar Bukhari onto the off stump, to the shock of the packed crowd.

Earlier, the spinners strangled Netherlands to 160 all out in 46.2 overs despite a Ryan ten Doeschate half-century in their World Cup Group B clash in Chittagong.

Left-arm spinners bowled 29 overs for 100 runs and took five wickets. Seamer Shafiul Islam was almost unplayable at the start to stymie the Dutch who suffered four run-outs, leaving ten Doeschate too much repair job to do.

ten Doeschate, dropped on 14, hit his third fifty in World Cup and ninth in the ODIs, top-scored with 53 off 71 balls but was left stranded.

Tom Cooper (29) and Eric Szwarczynski (28) were the other batsmen to put up some sort of fight. Bangladesh's fielding was sharp despite a few dropped catches.

Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers with three for 29 off his 10 overs.

He took two wickets in three balls in the 37th over. First, he had Atse Buurman (0) caught at short mid-wicket by Imrul Kayes after trapping Tom de Grooth (4) lbw.

Shafiul Islam was unlucky to remain wicketless and returned impressive figures of 15 for 0 in 9.2 overs.

Suhrawardy Shubho, Shakib Al Hasan and Rubel Hossain took one wicket apiece.

The Tigers made two changes for the match, drafting in batsman Shahriar Nafees and left-arm spinner Shuvo for Raqibul Hasan and Naeem Islam.

The two teams met once in Glasgow (July 2010), when the Netherlands experienced a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh.
