UP finished Day 2 at 276 for 6 in 83 overs having bowled out Karnataka for 314 earlier in the day.
UP at one stage were down and out at 172 for 6 and it was a superb effort from Mohammad Kaif (101* from 223 balls with 15 fours) and his partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (52* from 96 balls with 6 fours) that is raising hopes for a crucial first innings lead.
Earlier for Karnataka, overnight batsman Stuart Binny narrowly missed out on a century to finish his knock on 94 which took him just 118 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar who struck a lovely half century by the fag end of the day had picked up a five-wicket haul with the ball.
