Australia Innings

Australia picked up a cakewalk victory against West Indies by six wickets with 22 balls to spare in a tiny chase of 106. The only question mark on the Aussie performance today was that their batsmen couldn't dominate the two left arm spinners - Benn and Miller! Benn's figures read 4-1-12-1 while Miller went wicketless but conceded only 16 off his four overs!

There was no problem whatsoever with David Warner playing a cameo of 25 from 12 balls and Brad Haddin scoring a solid 42 from 46 balls. Australia now go onto meet Pakistan in the second Semi Final at this same venue on the 14th. So far they have been unbeaten in the tournament having won five games on the trot!

Steven Smith got the Man of the Match for his impressive spell of leg spin.

West Indies Innings

West Indies have been bundled out for a paltry 105 in 19 overs in the last Super Eights Match against Australia at Gros Islet after winning the toss and electing to bat first. It all started early for Windies with Chris Gayle getting knocked out by a fast inswinger from Dirk Nannes in the second ball of the match. The hosts seemed to be getting some momentum through Chanderpaul (24 from 18 balls) and Sarwan (26 from 31 balls) but it didn't last long. After Chanderpaul was brilliantly caught by a diving David Hussey diving to his left from long on in the 5th over, things started to become very ugly for West Indies with wickets falling in a heap.

Leg Spinner Steven Smith got the ball to turn which helped him pick three wickets, two of which came in consecutive deliveries. Mitchell Johnson and David Hussey picked up two wickets each.

The hosts are certainly out of the tournament with this pathetic batting display and that means Sri Lanka will join Australia into the Semi Finals.
