India's spinners put India on top on Day four of the Hyderabad Test against Bangladesh

India's spinners put India on top on Day four of the Hyderabad Test against Bangladesh. The top three Bangladesh batsmen were dismissed in the second innings, before close of play on Sunday, as India looked set for victory in the one-off Test.

Bangladesh were set an improbable 459 to win in four sessions. The visitors ended the day on 103-3. Shakib Al Hasan was unbeaten on 21 at stumps, and had Mahmudullah for company, who was batting on 9.

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, created history on the day, becoming the fastest to reach 250 wickets in Tests on the day. Ashwin sent back Tamim Iqbal for 3 and Mominul Haque for 27. The other spinner, Ravindra Jadeja, dismissed Soumya Sarkar, who had made 42.

Sarkar and Mominul went involved in a 60-run stand for the second wicket. However, both were dismissed in a space of 14 deliveries to put India right back on top, and lessen Bangladesh’s hopes of saving the Test.

Earlier in the day, Cheteshwar Pujara compiled an unbeaten 54 off 58 balls as India declared their second innings on 159 for four at tea. India batted for 29 overs in their second innings, and scored at a quick rate of over five runs per over.

Skipper Virat Kohli made 38 while Ajinkya Rahane chipped in with 28 as India looked for quick runs. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan divided the four Indian wickets.

The morning session saw Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim bring up his fifth Test hundred. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 388, to give India a first-innings lead of 299.

Rahim was the last man out for Bangladesh on 127, as the innings came

to a close shortly before lunch. Kohli decided not to enforce the follow-on.

Resuming on 322-6, Bangladesh got off to a bad start with Bhuvneshwar Kumar getting through half-centurion Mehedi Hasan with the fourth ball of the day.
