Pakistan's victory over India in the final of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy has been one of the biggest upsets I’m recent times. India went into the final as favourites having thrashed Pakistan in the league stages, but the latter went on to win the final by a massive margin of 180 runs.
According to Talat Ali, the manager of the Pakistan team during the Champions Trophy, many including Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar had completely written off Pakistan, and this fired the team up.
"India wrote us off in the final. I was listening to the analysis of Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri and they gave us no chance. That fired up the boys. It was called a no-contest and we were written off. We said let the bat and ball do the talking," Ali told Cricbuzz.
Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman smashed a century and Mohammad Amir came up with a brilliant spell as the Indian batting was completely blown away.
