Chennai Super Kings demolished Delhi Daredevils for a crushing 93-run win at Abu Dhabi. Skipper MS Dhoni showed shrewd captaincy in bowling his seam bowlers when the ball was hard and new on a greenish pitch that had good amount of movement.
Delhi Daredevils were shot out for a paltry total of 84 in 15.4 overs. The catching from CSK was absolutely brilliant, especially from Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis. A couple of catches from Faf du Plessis were simply mind blowing.
None of the DD batsmen had any answers to the CSK seamers which included Ishwar Pandey, Ben Hilfenhaus and Dwayne Smith. The top scorer for Delhi was their Skipper Dinesh Karthik with 21 from 22 balls.
Earlier in the evening, CSK had a modest start of 77 for 2 in 11 overs. But their tempo was lifted superbly by a half century from Suresh Raina (56 from 41 balls with 5 fours and a six). Skipper MS Dhoni slammed 32 from 15 balls to help his side finish with a par total of 177 for 7. Raina got the Man of the Match award for his batting and fielding efforts.
Toss and Teams: Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first in Match 8 at Abu Dhabi in IPL 7. There is no Kevin Pietersen yet for the Delhi Daredevils who will be led again by Dinesh Karthik.
CSK have made three changes with Ben Hilfenhaus, Mithun Manhas and Ishwar Pandey replacing Dwayne Bravo, Ashish Nehra and Pawan Negi. Delhi Daredevils remain unchanged on the other hand.
