Trinidad & Tobago pulled off an upset at the Feroz Shah Kotla defeating tournament favourites Chennai Super Kings to qualify for the Semi Finals. T&T crushed CSK by 8 wickets with almost five overs to spare to top Group B. The Caribbean team will clash with Mumbai Indians at Delhi and CSK will face Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur.

T&T could have made it to the Semis even if they had lost tonight’s match but with as less a margin as possible as their defeat could have given some hopes for the Titans. It was a one-sided affair at the Kotla as CSK, a batting heavy side were bundled out for a paltry total of 118 after being put into bat first by Denesh Ramdin.

CSK were in a strong position at 78 for 2 in the 11th over before they lost their momentum as the pitch started to slow down. Suresh Raina was once again the top scorer for CSK, this time with a 29-ball 38. Rayad Emrit took three wickets while Ravi Rampaul and Lendl Simmons chipped in with two wickets each.

A 79-run opening stand between Evin Lewis (38 from 35 balls) and Lendl Simmons (63 from 41 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes) shut the door of CSK’s unlikely victory. T&T raced away to an 8-wicket win in just 15.1 overs. Lendl Simmons got the Man of the Match award for his all-round performance.
