Sikandar Raza smashed 82 off only 48 balls as Zimbabwe beat Ireland by 31 runs in a Group B encounter of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Monday, October 17. Zimbabwe were sent into bat by Ireland after they lost the toss. They got off to a poor start, losing four wickets for 79 by the halfway stage. Regis Chakabva (0), Craig Ervine (9), Wesley Madhevere (22) and Sean Williams (12) were all back in the hut.

Deepak Hooda became only the fourth Indian batter to smash a T20I ton after Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul on Tuesday (June 28). Harry Tector stood out for the hosts with an unbeaten 64 off 33 balls. He hit six fours and three sixes in his excellent innings.

Ireland skipper Andrew Balbirnie has said that being a full ICC member doesn’t feel like anything more than a name. Balbirnie pointed out that although Ireland were granted Test status in 2018, they have only played three Tests so far, the last of which was against England more than two years back.

Namibia will take on Ireland in match number 11 of the T20 World Cup 2021 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday. The match will be played as part of Group A encounters in Round 1. The game will be played at 3:30 PM IST and 2:00 PM local time
