News relating to spot and match fixing continue to haunt T20 Cricket, in particular the IPL. If reports from a couple of newspapers are to be believed, four players from Sunrisers Hyderabad find themselves under the scanner for alleged involvement in fixing. The four players are Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera, leg-spinner Karan Sharma and Hyderabad’s young duo of Hanuma Vihari and Ashish Reddy.

All the four players are part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team which is currently playing in the Champions League T20. Apparently the four players were approached by a Mumbai based bookie Chandresh Patel during IPL 6 just before Sunrisers’ game against Pune Warriors. This news comes after Chandresh had spilled the beans in police interrogation if the newspaper reports are to be believed.

Whether fixing did take place following the meeting between the bookies and the four players is not known clearly. For now, the benefit of doubt could go to the players as the bookie has only claimed of approaching them and not about finishing off a deal successfully. Meanwhile Sri Lanka Cricket Board has quashed the news report exuding full confidence in its player Thissara Perera. However, we are yet to get any official comments from the BCCI or the Hyderabad Cricket Association regarding this sensational news.
